On Friday, September 14th, 2018, at 1PM we will release cans of our first long-term barrel-aged sour beer.

Immediately after receiving our commercial brewing license, we brewed several batches of Chickadee and other beers that were destined to ferment and age in wine and whiskey barrels for 6-18 months. This is the first of those early barrels to be ready for release and we’re excited to share the results with you.

After three months in the barrel the beer was developing beautifully so we added 42lbs of passion fruit directly to the barrel, allowing the beer to undergo a secondary fruit fermentation. It then aged for another three months before being transferred from the barrel to a brite tank for carbonation and packing.

This beer is an example of the the many barrel projects we have in progress and helps illustrate what our future beer releases will include. It has a prominent tartness that is backed up by the immense tropical fruit character of the passionfruit and subtle oak and wine characters from the barrel.

Cans are priced at $5 per 16oz can or $20 per 4-pack.

For this release, we have 340 cans available for purchase in the brewery. The address of the brewery is:

111 W 2nd Ave
Ste D
Hutchinson, KS 67501

Can sales begin at 1PM and it is expected they will sell out quickly. Do not delay if you’d like some Wine Barrel Chickadee with Passionfruit!
